PC Baseball Completes Sweep Over Majors 8-2

Senior Dusty Black went six innings striking out nine for his first victory of the season as the Lions defeated Millsaps College 8-2.

After erasing a first-inning deficit, the Piedmont College baseball team rallied with eight unanswered runs to defeat visiting Millsaps College this evening at Loudermilk Field by the score of 8-2. The Lions pitchers allowed only six hits while striking out 15 en route to the victory.

The visiting Majors jumped on the board with two runs in the first inning. The Lions answered in the home-half with three runs on four hits to take the final lead change of the night. After John Duke doubled home a pair of runners James Moyer capped the scoring with a two-out RBI-single.

In the second inning PC capitilized on a pair of Millsaps errors and scored three runs, two coming off the bat of Moyer with a two-out single. Junior Ethan Miers tacked on a single run in the third on his first career homerun.

In the seventh the Lions added an insurance run as Curtis Cornett ripped a double and scored on a two-out single from Moyer.

After allowing a pair of runs in the first inning senior Dusty Black settled in and threw five consecutive scoreless innings while striking out nine. Sophomore # DAVIS PARTRICK# took the ball in the seventh and allowed one hit while striking out six for his first career save.

Sophomore James Moyer paced the offense going 3-4 with four RBI's. Kyle Davis also posted a 3-4 night with a run scored while Miers went 2-4 with his first career homerun. Jules Roussel led the Majors offense going 2-3 with a double.

The Lions, now 7-4, will return to action again tomorrow, February 27th as they play host to Adrian College at Loudermilk Field starting at 4:00.
