LaGrange, GA -- Three Piedmont College student-athletes have been recognized by the Great South Athletic Conference on the league's weekly honor list in their respective sports for the week ending September 5.
NICK WEATHERBY (men's soccer),
LAURA GOODWIN (women's soccer) and A.J. Meyer (men's cross country) were all named Player or Runner of the Week as announced by the conference office earlier this afternoon.
In men's soccer action, junior
NICK WEATHERBY earned the honor by virtue of his five goals in two games including a lights-out four-goal performance in a 6-0 romp over local-rival Toccoa Falls College on Saturday night. The midfielder/forward has paced the Lions offensively leading the team in total points with 12 and goals with five total.

LAURA GOODWIN was also named Player of the Week by the conference in women's soccer for her performance against Tennessee Temple in the team's season opener last Thursday. In her Lady Lion debut, the freshman forward tallied a hat-trick and a pair of assists to help PC shut out the Crusaders 8-0.
Freshman A.J. Meyer rounded out the list of honorees as the Cohutta, GA native was named the conference's first-ever Runner of the Week on the men's side by virtue of his 8K time of 28:06 in the 27th Annual Eye Opener event hosted by USC Upstate this past weekend.
The trio of award winners from PC represents three of the five possible weekly honor spots recognized by the GSAC during the fall season. Both soccer teams as well as men's cross country will return to actiont this upcoming weekend.
Men's soccer travels to Virginia for a 2:00 match with Guilford College on Saturday, September 11 while the women's program will host a match under the lights at Allen Creek Soccer Complex against Meredith College at 7:00 on Friday, September 10. The men's cross country team will run back onto the course at the Berry College Invitational in Rome, GA on Saturday, September 11.
