Two new assistant athletic trainers have been added to the PC athletic training staff as Tim Miesmer and Kristi Castellaw begin their PC careers this fall.
Demorest, GA -- The Department of Athletic Training at Piedmont College has announced the addition of two new staff members to the training staff for 2010-2011. First-year assistants Tim Miesmer and Kristi Castellaw have been added to the PC training staff while Jocelyn Glenn will continue in her role as Head Athletic Trainer.

A University of Central Florida (UCF) graduate, Tim Miesmer comes to Piedmont following a year-long stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League. As an intern athletic trainer with the Bucs, Miesmer assisted with the care of elite athletes at the highest level of their profession in the NFL including former Southeastern Conference (SEC) standouts Cadillac Williams and Reggie Brown.

Prior to his time working with the pro ranks, Miesmer spent time both as a student athletic trainer at the University of Central Florida and a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Valdosta State University. Miesmer holds a Bachelor of Science from UCF in Athletic Training and obtained his Master of Education in Health and Physical Education from Valdosta State University right here in the state of Georgia.

Beginning her first year as an assistant athletic trainer with Piedmont College is University of Northern Colorado graduate Kristi Castellaw. Prior to her arrival at Piedmont, Castellaw worked as a certified ATC with Banner Health in Greeley, Colorado. During her time with Banner Health, she served as Head Athletic Trainer at the clinical site of Greeley West High School and was responsible for athletic injury evaluations, treatments, and rehabilitations.

Castellaw also served time in the collegiate ranks working for Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, California where she assisted in the day-to-day operations of the sports medicine facility while also working toward a Master of Science in Kinesiology/Exercise Physiology. Castellaw was awarded a Bachelor of Science in May of 2009 from the University of Northern Colorado in Sports and Exercise Science/Athletic Training.

Both Miesmer and Castellaw will assist in overseeing Piedmont’s 14 intercollegiate sports and provide coverage of all intercollegiate events and practices. The pair of assistant athletic trainers’ range of responsibilities include the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of student-athlete injuries as well as medical coverage of all home contests and practices.
