Mt. Pleasant, MI -- Designated hitter KEVIN MCCONNELL has been recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association with a spot on the 2010 All-South Region team as announced by the ABCA this afternoon.  McConnell was named to the All-South Region second team after starting all 42 games of the season for the Piedmont College baseball team at the DH position.

As a staple of the PC lineup, McConnell led all Piedmont hitters with 47 RBIs and 17 doubles while posting a 3.63 batting average on the season.  His doubles mark also led all hitters in the Great South Athletic Conference while he also placed in the conference top five for runs batted in.  The Flowery Branch, GA native also posted multiple-RBIs in 12 games throughout the season including a five RBI performance in a March match-up with Greensboro College where McConnell went 4-5 at the plate while also scoring three runs.

McConnell helped Piedmont to a regular season runner-up finish in the Great South Athletic Conference as the Lions ended play ranked nationally in the top 25 of NCAA Division III in total stolen bases (95) and base on balls (205).  PC saw its season come to a close with a 8-5 loss on the road at Methodist University bringing the overall record to an even 21-21.
