Demorest, GA -- Piedmont College men's basketball player
J.C. Herebia has been named to the All-State team as announced by the Georgia Basketball Coaches Association on its year-end honor roll. Herebia led the Lions (15-11) in scoring (14.1 ppg) and rebounding (5.6 rpg) and earned the team's Teammate of the Year award at the recent annual awards banquet.
Also honored by the GABCA was teammates
Sam Coppage and
Michael Rubio who each garnered All-State Honorable Mention status. Rubio was the team's second leading scorer at 13.8 ppg while Coppage third in scoring (9.8 ppg) and the team's leading assist man with 79 on the season. All three players were recent All-Conference selections by the Great South Athletic Conference.
Additionally, PC placed nine players on the association's All-Academic team which honors players that carry at 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher. Piedmont's nine honorees was second only to Emory University with 14. Coppage,

Herbia, last year's GABCA Newcomer of the Year after transferring from Texas Lutheran University, will participate in the GABCA's 1st Annual Senior Showcase All-Star game. The game will feature 22 seniors from all GABCA member schools and will take part on Saturday, March 27 at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA with tip off set for 7:30 PM.
The Georgia Basketball Coaches Association was started three years ago and is an association for small college basketball coaches in the state of Georgia covering NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, and junior colleges. Piedmont College head coach Lee Glenn serves on the GABCA's Executive Committee.
