LaGrange, GA -- The Great South Athletic Conference has announced the 2009-10 All-Conference awards for women's basketball with Piedmont College placing a pair on both the All-Conference and All-Academic teams respectively.
Senior
Lisa Jennings and newcomer
Sada Wheeler have been named to the All-Conference team. Jennings is currently third on the team with a season average of 7.9 points per game including a squad-best 38 tri-fectas. In conference play this season the guard is averaging 9.8 points per game and has connected on 44% of her attempts from the floor.
Since arriving on the team at the holiday break Wheeler is averaging 15.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. In addition the forward is posting 16.2 points and 9.7 boards in conference play. Wheeler has earned four double-doubles in 15 games played and has missed by one rebound on four separate occasions.
Guard
Amber Satterfield and forward
Laura Simmons were both named to the league's All-Academic eam by carrying at least a 3.25 GPA and being at least a sophomore in the classroom.
The third-seeded Lady Lions defeated sixth-seeded Salem College last night by the score of 84-58 to advance to the GSAC Tournament semifinals where they will meet second-seeded LaGrange College on Friday, February 26th with game-time set for 1:00.
