LaGrange, GA -- The Great South Athletic Conference has annouced the 2009 Women's Soccer year-end awards with six Lady Lions being named to the All-Conference team. In addition PC placed a pair on the All-Freshman team while head coach
Stephen Andrew was named the Coach of the Year for the first time in his tenure.
Justine Clay,
Erin Pippin,
Casey Lovelady,
Katie Porter,
Nicole Hood and goalkeeper
Kaitlyn Induni were named to the All-Conference Team. Porter currently leads the team in goals (15), assists (9), points (39), shots on goal (50) and game-winners (5). Clay has also notched nine assists and is second on the squad in goals (10), points (29) and game-winners (2).
Lovelady and Pippin have combined for 13 goals and four assists and are assisting the PC offfensive that is averaging nearly four goals per match. Between the posts Induni has converted 72-90 shots on goal into saves and is allowing 1.27 goals per contest while stopper Hood has been a mainstay on the defensive side.
Katherine Metz and
Macie Rooke were named to the GSAC All-Freshman team as a defender. Metz has been instrumental in the back helping the defense allow only 1.31 goals against while Rooke has posted five goals and four assists including a pair of game-winners.
In his second season with the women's soccer team Andrew has guided the Lady Lions to a 13-3 overall mark as well as a 6-1 record in conference play good enough for the second seed in the upcoming championship.
Pippin, Lovelady, Clay,
Caitlin Hurd,
Sara Lindsley, and
Jessica Powell were all named to the Great South All-Academic team for carrying at least a 3.25 GPA as well as being at least a sophomore in the classroom.
