LaGrange, GA -- The Great South Athletic Conference has announced the 2009 volleyball year-end awards with Piedmont placing five players on the All-Academic team and four players on the All-Conference team highlighted by
Jennifer Granlund being named the league's Libero of the Year.
Granlund is currently leading the GSAC with 438 total digs. This season she has earned double digit dig totals in 24 of 31 matches and is averaging nearly four digs per set. Joining Granlund on the All-Conference Team were
Tyler Baldonado,
Kalin DeMarrais, and
Michelle Tesina.
Baldonado eclipsed the 3,000 career mark for assists and then broke the previous PC career record of 3,119. DeMarrais and Tesina have posted 222 and 146 kills respectively as well as 41 and 43 in conference matches.
Baldonado, Granlund,
Katie Tucker,
Nikki Cole and
Rachel Powell were named to the GSAC All-Academic team for carrying at least a 3.25 overall GPA as well as being at least a sophomore in the classroom.
The second-seeded Lady Lions will take on the winner of the matchup between #3 Huntingdon College and #6 LaGrange College in the GSAC Tournament Semifinals on Friday, November 6th in Maryville, TN.
