Fidero Sets School Record At USC-Upstate Cross Country Invitational

Michael Fidero broke his previous 8K school record time crossing the finish line in 26:45 this morning at the USC-Upstate Cross Country Invitati.onal in Spartanurg, SC
Spartanburg, SC -- The Piedmont College men's and women's cross country teams competed this morning at the USC-Upstate Cross Country Invitational. Two school records and nine personal best times were posted on the same course the teams competed on to open the season.
On the men's side
Michael Fidero broke his own Piedmont College 8K record with a time of 26:45. Newcomer
James Maxwell set the freshman record time crossing the tape in 28:52, nearly three minutes off his first time of the year.
Matt Collins and
Montez Jones also earned personal bests with times of 31:02 and 33:08 respectively.
For the Lady Lions
Michelle Sosia posted a 5K time of 24:56, one and a half minutes under her previous mark.
Melissa Crane and
Leah Cunningham crossed the tape in 29:02 and 29:12 apiece while Katie Rice and
Aubrey Tidwell rounded out the field.
Both teams will compete in the Great South Athletic Conference Championship hosted by LaGrange College in LaGrange, GA on Saturday, November 7th.
