On a rainy morning in the mountains of Tennessee the Piedmont College men and women's cross country teams competed in the Sewanee-University of the South Invitational in Sewanee, TN. The Lions individual runners completed the 8K course with an average time of 30:57 while the Lady Lions finished the 5K course with an average time of 26:32.
The harriers will return to action again on Saturday, September 13th as they travel to Rome, GA for the Berry College Invitational slated to begin at 10:00.
On the men's side sophomore
MICHAEL FIDERO was the Lions top finisher with a race time and personal record of 28:37 good enough for a 62st place finish in the 173 runner field. Newcomer
MATT COLLINS completed his first collegiate cross country meet in 150th place with an 8K time of 33:16. The Lions did not enter enough runners to post a team score.
On the women's side senior
JENNIFER GATHERCOAL 105th out of the 149 runners with a 5K time of 23:54. In her first collegiate cross country race
EMILY WOODWARD finished in 26:49 with
KRIS PRATT closely following at 26:55. Newcomer Anna McClatchey and Stephanie Garrett rounded out the squad with times of 27:20 and 27:41. Piedmont finished in 16th place out of 16 teams.
