The Piedmont College Department of Athletics has announced Scott Stanley as the new head coach for men's and women's cross country program. Stanley is the former head cross country coach at NAIA College of St. Mary in Omaha, NE where he was the 2005 Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
Stanley hails from Cumming, GA and spent six years coaching in the NAIA rankes as an assistant coach at Dana College (2000-2002) and as the head coach at CMC (2002-2005). During his coaching tenure he mentored one MCAC Runner of the Year, NAIA Region IV Champion, and an All-American.
As a competitor he was a two-time NAIA All-American in 1998 and 1999 and was a 12 time National Indoor/Outdoor Track Qualifier at Dana College where he served as a four-year team captain.
Most recently Stanley has served as a volunteer coach with Habersham Central High School's cross country teams and helped mentor an individual state qualifier.
Stanley will begin his head coaching responsibilites at Piedmont immediately.
