Cornelia, GA - Former Piedmont assistant softball coach Ralph Cash passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 18 at his residence, following a battle with cancer at the age of 63. Cash was a close friend to the Piedmont community and was a member of Grove Level Baptist Church in Cornelia. He had retired from coaching softball for the Lady Lions, but was around in the early years under current head coach Terry Martin.

Greensboro, NC - Greensboro pulled off a season split with the Lady Lions after an exciting finish, holding on to win 59-57 Monday afternoon as #Alyssa Jones#' potential game-tying layup missed as time expired. The Pride avenged their loss to Piedmont back in early December, returning the favor on their home court. The home team carried a slim five-point lead into the half before the Lady Lions clawed their way back into the game and gave themselves a chance to win on the final shot. No. 20 Greensboro was fortunate to walk away with the win despite its dismal performance in long-range shooting, going 0-for-14 from outside in the game.

Winston-Salem, NC - Just four days after suffering their first loss of the 2011-12 season to a tough LaGrange team on the road, the No. 18 Lady Lions bounced back in usual fashion, defeating Salem 73-51 in a Great South Athletic Conference away game. Four women scored in double figures, led by senior #Sada Wheeler#, who tallied game-highs 17 points and nine rebounds to go with three blocks.
