Fayetteville, NC - The USA South Athletic Conference announced its 2012-13 listing of Academic All-Conference honorees earlier today with Piedmont College earning the second most awards of any league member in just the institution's first year as a full member.  Over 150 student-athletes who proudly wear the green and gold on the athletic fields earned the recognition for their work in the classroom during this school year.

To be eligible for an Academic All-Conference award from the USA South, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 GPA in each of the two semesters of a given year.  Any student-athlete participating in any varsity sport at any conference institution is eligible while the sport does not have to be a conference-sponsored sport. 

The 2012-13 USA South Academic All-Conference Team includes 1,155 student-athletes total, with 156 of those belonging to Piedmont representing the second most of all 13 full and associate members of the conference behind only Christopher Newport University who earned 166 awards.  As the fourth-smallest school in the league, Piedmont's 156 honorees is the most among all private insitutions in the conference and represents close to 14% of the total academic awards handed out.
