Norman, OK -- The Piedmont College men's golf team has been honored by the Golf Coaches Association of America with the organization's All-Academic Team award as announced earlier this afternoon. PC is one of only 23 NCAA Division-III institutions from across the nation to earn the prestigious honor out of over 420 member schools. PC joined DePauw University and Emory University as the only honorees from the South Region.
To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors, a college or university must submit the grade point averages earned and hours attempted for each player on its official squad list for the academic year. Teams earning All-Academic Team status earn such recognition for carrying a 3.0 GPA or higher throughout the academic year.
Teams can also earn President's Special Recognition for carrying a 3.5 or better GPA while the team with the highest GPA is honored as the Academic National Champion. For Piedmont the GCAA award is the second in as many months for the men's golf program as
Clifton Barton and
David Strader were both recognized as All-American Scholars earlier this year.
