The Great South Athletic Conference unveiled its new look on Thursday including a brand new conference logo and a reinvented GSAC website to keep fans up to date on the happenings within the Great South.
LaGrange, GA -- The Great South Athletic Conference proudly announced its new branding identity earlier this morning spearheaded with a new logo and updated conference website. The new conference website boasts a new sleek design and features as the conference continues its partnership with SIDEARM Sports of Syracuse. The league’s new logo was created by JL Designs in Holly Springs, NC.
The new logo and color scheme will replace the outdated GSAC oval used for identity purposes since the league’s inception in 2000. The 2010-11 season will celebrate completion of the first decade of the GSAC with the old logo and color scheme serving the conference for the past 10 seasons (2000-2010).
The new identity was unanimously adopted at the annual Athletic Directors’ meeting in May in Atlanta, GA.
“The Great South Athletic Conference was looking for a logo that was both timeless and modern and reflected the forward movement of this conference. We started this process by looking for an icon which reflected the conference and region, and then paired it with a strong, timeless and athletic font. The yellow rising sun represents a new day for this conference, which is growing in size as well as academic and athletic reputation. The light blue "reflection" of the sun is meant to be a tribute to and reflection of the past decade of academic and athletic excellence experienced by the GSAC and its member schools,” stated logo designer Jamie Legg.
