Lady Lions Post Runner-Up Finish In First Spring Tournament

The PC women's golf team earned a runner-up finish this afternoon at the 4th Annual Piedmont College Spring Invitational.

Clarkesville, GA -- The Piedmont College women's golf team earned a runner-up finish in its first tournament of the spring semester this afternoon at the 4th Annual Piedmont College Spring Invitational at The Orchard Golf & Country Club. PC posted a 36-hole total of 359-363--722 to finish second in the seven-team field.
Piedmont finished behind 12-time NCAA Division III national champion Methodist University's "B" team which won the event for the third time in the past four seasons. The Lady Lions held off second day charges by NAIA schools Ohio Dominican (726) and defending champion Tennessee Wesleyan (730).
Bethann Rogers led the team with a score of 85-86--171 to earn a fifth place finish in the 46-golfer field which earned her a spot on the All-Tournament team. Freshman
Maria Carter also posted a top-10 finish with an 88-88--176 which was good for a tie for ninth place.
Piedmont will return to action on March 19-21 when the team travels to Jekyll Island, GA to take part in the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational on the Indian Mounds course.
