Lee Glenn is entering his eighth season as head coach of the Piedmont College men's basketball program after being promoted to the top spot in May of 2003. He is only the school's sixth head coach since men's basketball was re-introduced as an intercollegiate sport in 1940. When promoted to head coach at the age of 29, Glenn became one of the youngest NCAA men's basketball head coaches in the entire country.
In his previous seven season as head coach Glenn has compiled a 82-100 career record for a .451 winning percentage. His 45% career winning percentage is the all-time highest in the history of the PC men's basketball program and his 82 career wins ranks second all-time on the school's win list behind O'Neal Cave. For the first time in the program's history, Glenn's teams have posted winning records or better in four of the past five seasons. Additionally, his 2009-10 team earned an NCAA-era best 15 wins marking only the second time in the past 14 years a PC team has crested that win total.
Known for his high-octane offense and pressure defense, his teams have finished in the top-30 nationally in NCAA Division-III in scoring offense in five of the last six seasons including top-15 rankings for three consecutive years. Over the past seven seasons, Glenn's teams have past the 100-point barrier 23 times.
The Lions have also claimed a pair of tournament titles under Glenn's guidance as the Lions were crowned champions of the 2006 Roger Taylor Invitational hosted by NC Wesleyan and recently won the 8th Annual 9/11 NYC Tournament of Heroes (2009) hosted by the College of Staten Island.
In his time guiding the men's basketball program, Glenn has tutored one Division-III All-American, one All-Region selection, 12 GSAC All-Conference selections, two GSAC Players of the Year, two GSAC Freshmen of the Year, and seven GSAC All-Freshman honorees. He also recruited and mentored Jake Baldwin to a pair of All-American honors as the 2,000 point scorer was named as a top-10 finalist for the prestigious Josten's Award honoring the nation's overall best men's NCAA Division III player.
Glenn's teams are also clearly committed to academic successes in the classroom as he has produced 36 GSAC All-Academic candidates. In each of Glenn's seven years as head coach, his team has produced the conference's most All-Academic honorees of all the men's basketball programs. His program has produced 18 NABC Honors Court honorees and 26 GABCA All-Academic selections. Additionally, the men's basketball program has carried a team GPA of over 3.0 for an impressive 14 consecutive semesters.
Glenn is very active in professional associations as he is serving his second three-year tenure as the independent representative on the NCAA Division-III South Region Ranking/Advisory Committee. Beginning in 2007, he assumed position of chair of the Great South Athletic Conference's men's basketball advisory committee. He was also instrumental in developing and initiating the Georgia Basketball Coaches Association and serves as Vice-Chair on the association's Executive Committee.
Glenn is also an active member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches where his program annually participates in the Coaches vs. Cancer promotion. The PC men's basketball program has donated over $1,200 to the American Cancer Society on behalf of the NABC's initiative in the past two seasons. Glenn's team is also active in the local community as the squad has adopted Captain Fry Road in Demorest as part of the Keep Habersham Beautiful Initiative.
Glenn also serves as director of both the Adidas Summer Shootouts and the Piedmont College High School Holiday Classic. The summer team camp has grown to include close to 40 high schools over a two-week period while the holiday tournament is an eight-team event hosted in the Johnny Mize Athletic Center over the Christmas holiday break.
Glenn came to Piedmont from Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina where he was the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications. He initially went to MU and served as an assistant coach on the men's basketball staff under his former high school basketball coach David Smith for one season.
Prior to getting into the college coaching ranks, Glenn helped lead his alma mater, Keystone Heights (FL) High School, to the 1998 FHSAA AAA Final Four for the first time in the school's history.
In addition to his men's basketball duties, Glenn also serves Piedmont as the Director of Golf after starting both programs from the ground up in 2003 and serving as head coach for five seasons.
Glenn married the former Jocelyn Stallings in December of 2004 and the two reside in Clarkesville, GA with their dogs Ebony and Ivory. The couple welcomed their first child, Hagen Graham Glenn, on December 31, 2007 and added their second child, Hadley Marie, on February 28, 2010.
