Scott Stanley

The 2010 season will serve as the third overall for head coach Scott Stanley as the leader of both the men's and women's cross country programs at Piedmont College. During his second season at the helm, Stanley led the men’s team to a Great South Athletic Conference Championship while also being honored as the conference Coach of the Year.

Last season, Stanley’s men’s cross country team grabbed the program’s first conference title since 2002 before participating in the 2009 NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Championship. While competing at the post-season event hosted by Guilford College, Stanley guided senior Michael Fidero to a spot on the All-South team.

In Stanley’s inaugural season as head cross country coach, he mentored the Great South Athletic Conference men's individual champion who was also named the Runner of the Year.

Stanley’s successful running career took root in his high school days as he was an Iowa High School Cross County State Champion. Making the transition to the collegiate ranks of competition, Stanley was a two-time National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All-American in 1998 and 1999 and was a 12 time National Indoor/Outdoor Track Qualifier at Dana College where he served as a four-year team captain.

Following a decorated campaign on the ground as a student-athlete, Stanley then began his coaching career spending six years in the NAIA ranks as an assistant coach at his alma mater before becoming the head coach at the College of Saint Mary (NE) in 2002 leading the Flames to their first conference title in program history. During his coaching tenure at CSM, he was named the 2005 Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year and mentored one MCAC Runner of the Year, two NAIA Midwest Regional Champions, and a pair of All-Americans.

Just prior to taking over the runners at PC, Stanley served as a volunteer coach with Habersham Central High School's cross country teams helping to mentor an individual state qualifier during his time with the Raiders.

Stanley is a 2001 graduate of Dana College in Blair, NE with a degree in Biology before later returning to obtain his certification in Secondary Education.

A Nebraska native, Stanley now makes his home in Cumming, GA.
